It finally happened.

I had my first real photo shot with this wonderful family.

When Melissa came to me and asked me to take their family photos I totally thought. . . NO! NO! NO! NO!! there is just NO way I can do that.

But, she is a friend of mine.  She told me  I could do it.

For three weekends we tried to get these photos done but, it rained hard every weekend.  It just didn’t seem like it was going to happen.

I tried to plan it so we could get started early and I told her about the golden hour.  If we started early we could avoid  shadows on faces, I said.  But, Melissa is a busy mom and that didn’t’ work out at all.  We got started at 11:45 a.m. yesterday afternoon.

When we got there – again I told her I was worried about the photography gods,  the shadows,  and – well, you know. . . .

You want to know what she said?  “Lee, you’ll make it work.”  and I said “Well. . . okay, let’s close our eyes and shoot. We should  have at least one nice photo out of all these. “

So, that’s what I  did.  I  closed my  eyes, suggested we go into the shady areas ,relaxed and then had fun.

Now, can you believe I have photos nicer then these to share?

  1. I have a shoot in full sun soon. I am a little nervous. I am going to do just what you did : ). Look for shadows. Look for natural reflectors. Have fun.
