I can’t believe it’s time for him to go back to Benedictine already. The summer barely got started.

Matthew looking up

My heart is heavy . . . I already miss him.

    1. Thank you for saying this Laurie! You’re the best. It’s just so hard. And to make matters worse – he didn’t want to go. sigh! I kept telling him it was best for him becasue it is best for him. The school is good and he does so well. I told him he would be back home in 3 months. Three LONG months. He is 1000 miles away from home. How I wish it was closer. 😦

  1. This is the first fall in twenty-something years that no one’s going back to school….all done with that – at least for now! I think of the fall as the season of letting go – and breath it in. The beauty of it soothes me…doesn’t always help with the missing them though…

  2. Hubby and I took turns crying as our three took turns heading off from home. What a charming young man he is! I am sure he will come back to love you and appreciate your home cooking, laundry and car. Buck up, LIsa, it gets even better when he brings home a bride and then Grands!!! 🙂

  3. So hard! I know you are proud of him, though. I don’t look forward to the grande send offs in years to come. I know it will sneak up on us.

  4. I’m going to hate it when I have to send my oldest off in a few years. I can’t even imagine. Great portrait of your son that I’m sure you’ll look upon fondly through the year. ((hugs))
