“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness shall not overcome it.’
Hello Friends,
Here is the latest on our girl who loves music.
She is off the critical ill list and is now listed as stable.
Praise God!
and breathing completely on her own.
The ventilation tube is out.
She is still heavenly medicated but, fully aware of her surroundings. She can follow commands and all her extremities work. She is asking questions and knows she is in the hospital but quickly forgets.
and so when she woke: she looked directly at me and clearly knew me.
Thank God!
She was asked a few questions by the nurses and clearly responded by shaking her head. She was frightened but settled down as I held her hand and talked to her.
When things settled down even more, I asked this girl who loves music if she would like to listen to the music that she loves and she shook her head yes.
I asked her if she wanted to listen to her favorite artist Ed Sheeran
and she shook her head yes.
So I turned on Pandora radio and we listened. . .
and then the most wonderful things happened
a song came on that I thought we didn’t like
and I said to the girl who loves music, “I don’t think we like this song. Do you we?”
She shook her head NO.
I changed the song and asked, “We like like this song, don’t we?”
She shook her head yes.
My heart soared as I knew without a doubt: she clearly understands.
As these hounded years march on: we have learned she can speak but, does not want to, and is using ASL – which makes my heart sore again.
But, here is the thing we have been told:
She must use her voice to help heal her throat from the tubing that was helping her breath. And if she doesn’t, she will need a feeding tube for awhile.
I have told her about you and all the love you have shown
it truly lifts her.
With your prayers, Our Girl who loves music will fully recover
I know she will.
The power of prayer is an amazing thing.
I’ll update again soon. I promise.
a thousand thank yous to you from, my Fisherman husband and his wife

I’m going backwards to read your posts. I love how you typed “heavenly medicated” instead of heavily. I know it’s the wrong word, but actually it’s the right one. The difference the nurses notice in her room and her improvement is definitely coming from
heavenly medication.
