Note to Self

Read things!

1.) Mistakes are bad for kitty and costly for you

2.) When you realize you put wrong flea medication on kitty: don’t assume everything is okay.  Fleas will be gone but. . . kitty could be too.

when mistakes happen . . . read box, call your vet, ask,  or go to the great Google and then call vet.   a little tiny drop  . . . it not good for kitty.

20180322-_LFA1982-Edit

Midnight vet runs are exhausting

3.) Keep Dawn in the house. . . poisoned kitties need to be bathed.

4.) Even sick kitties do not like to be bathed.

5.) When you pick up recovered kitty at 7 a.m. that same day & have many appointments with kids early that morning ~  DO NOT put kitty in big dog crate in garage assuming she won’t get out.  She’s a kitty and she climbs.

Recovering kitties are hard to find in summer heat.

6.) Cars need gas . . . even if you don’t have time just get it.

7.) when needle comes out of recovering kitty. . . have tight grip. Kitties jump & blood goes everywhere. It’s not a good looking scene.

8.) Don’t lock keys in car a few days later  . . . AAA guys remember you.

9.) carry Ibeprophine and water for headaches

10.) keep the faith . . .  Life’s funny

Stillness

It’s been pretty quiet around here. . . with our boys all grown men and married.

Liz and Henry

the girl who loves music said SHE DOESN’T LIKE IT.  There is stillness in the air & it’s taking a little bit to get used to.

all our kids say. . . we aren’t used to stillness.  But, honestly . . . I think I could embrace it.

It’s been an amazing time raising those boys to men. . .  loving their friends as they first moved into our home and then forever our hearts.

The next chapter brings many exciting things and I silently think . . . BRING IT.

Here’s the honest thing: I don’t know much.  I don’t know why someone’s heart beats in her father’s chest. I don’t know why after two years this one continues to heal. I don’t know why we continue to celebrate the years and life’s changing times.

I do know this:  We are not strong because of ourselves.  We do not have courage because we are brave.  We do not do anything alone.  I still can’t say one is good without feeling gratitude from my core and saying the other. . .

Thank you, Jesus.  We are changed forever.

and as I often do . . . at the tenth hour

I read it was safe to use your camera at totality and the harsh light from the sun wouldn’t affect the camera or the lens.

what the heck?  I might as well give it a shot.

and then

BAM!

there it is.

and I feel, Wow! so lucky.

Even though he’s one who has to figure out what is going on. . . he lets it go, relaxes and enjoys the night.

I’m out of sorts all week and see what should go better. It weighs on me.  I keep telling myself to find the blessings.  I fall short and never jot them down.   Some days I don’t look – many  slip away.

I read it again that morning;  give thanks in all circumstances. . .  I know this, I remind myself.

and then I’m chatting with Charming in the kitchen filled with warm morning light.  He tells me about his day to come,  and I almost miss the beautiful glow coming in. I look out. It startles me and I say,

Oh, . . . That’s so beautiful.

PSX_20160315_085939

I grab  the closest camera to me, my phone . . . I move away from the conversation so fast he thinks there is something wrong.

I run outside chasing the gift before the morning sunlight moves and the woods stop looking like a magical land.

and this glorious moment of fog, light and raindrops puts me back to where I need to be.

I started taking a photography class online this week. To be totally honest. . . I find the whole thing kind of intimidating.     I mean, I have never had anyone really critique my photos before.

Ever!

eyes

The assignment for the week is summer.  It’s wide open.

eyes 2

My first thought for this homework was to take lots of shots of the kids at the pool. After all, what says summer more then a pool? But then, a South Carolina thundershower came out of nowhere,  and these are what I ended up submitting for the day.

After all – What says South Carolina Summers more then a thundershower coming out of nowhere?

I gotta tell ya. . .

My top model is just doll.

wind 5

Yesterday she wanted to stay with “the best Nana ever” for a little while.  But, the best nana wasn’t feeling well and wanted to lie down.  I told this girl of mine she had to come  home with me so  Nana could rest.

wind 4

Well . . . if you can believe it – she was grumpy about the whole thing.

wind 3

I then asked her if she wanted to blow  dandelion seeds around the yard while I took her photo – she put on a little tiny  smile and said,  “I guess so.”

Wind B& W

and then she blew, and blew, and blew.

wind and a big smile

Do  you want to know what happened next?

She laughed, and laughed, and laughed all the way home.
